Day 2: I’m not just a mom

 Day 2: I’m Not Just a Mom

Scripture:

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

— Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

Devotion:

Some days, the title “mom” feels like a weight instead of a crown.

Not because it’s not beautiful. Not because I’m not grateful. But because the world treats “mom” like it’s somehow less. Like being “just a mom” means you don’t dream anymore, don’t create anymore, don’t matter as much anymore.

The truth? There’s no just about it. God didn’t put a period at the end of mother. He wrote your name into eternity and called you His workmanship. Not just a caretaker. Not just a diaper changer or mess cleaner. But His masterpiece—designed for purpose, value, and Kingdom impact.

Every scraped knee you kiss, every snack you prepare, every meltdown you breathe through with grace—it echoes in heaven louder than the world will ever understand. You are not wasting your gifts. You are walking in the very good works God planned long ago.

Maybe you’re feeling lost in the routine. Maybe no one sees what you’re carrying. But God does. And He hasn’t forgotten the rest of who you are, either.

You are still the woman who dreams.

The woman who was made to worship.

The woman who can still build, write, teach, create, lead.

You are a daughter of the King. And being a mom? It’s not the end of your identity. It’s a sacred part of it.

So today, lift your head. You’re not just a mom.

You’re His.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me Yours. Remind me that motherhood is a calling, not a confinement. Help me walk boldly in both my identity as Your daughter and my role as a mom. Show me how to embrace the holy in the ordinary. When I forget who I am, remind me. When I feel unseen, whisper that You see it all. Use my motherhood as a vessel for Your glory. Amen.

Journal Prompt:

In what ways have you felt like you’ve lost your identity since becoming a mom? What passions or gifts do you feel stirring beneath the surface that you want to invite God into again?
